The killing of the elephants in the last few years is a tragedy

Ivory Seizures

In this Image you can see top ten Asian countries with the most Ivory seized. Each Blue Ivory represents 2,000 pounds seized, about 90 elephants. On average tuskss weight 11 pounds. As you can see India has 14,900 pounds, and the numbers continue to escalate. By far and most notably, China has taken the lead by reaching an unimaginable 90,600 pounds, making it the dominant country in Ivory smuggling.

Note that these figures are from 1989-2011. In the recent year and up to now these figures are surely much higher. As I mentioned before, if this continues with the African elephants, our grandchildren will only be able to see them from the zoos.
